Valentine's Day Craft

I wanted to make a cute Valentine's craft with the kids so that they would be able to give them out as gifts, well they turned out SO cute that I thought I just had to share them with you all! These would make amazing parent gifts and they were so easy to complete!
We started off by drawing a picture with a thin Sharpie pen.  I let my little one choose who she wanted to draw herself with (she made a couple of boxes). She drew herself with mom, dad, grandma, etc.  If you are doing this as a Valentine's gift in class you can even let your students draw their whole family.
Then we colored in the picture with colored pencils
Meanwhile, I painted a layer of Mod Podge onto the ceramic box from Oriental Trading.
Mod Podge dries very quickly so make sure the image is ready to lay on top.
Once the image was placed on the box, I added another layer of Mod Podge. This just ensures that the picture will stay on the box and it also adds a nice shine finish!
Then we decorated our boxes with stickers. I ordered a TON of fun stickers from Oriental Trading (fun fact--I am a total sticker hoarder).
We added one sticker into the inside of the box and I painted over it with Mod Podge.
Then we painted the outside of the box. I left out a bunch of different colored paints to choose from. This is just the Crayola paint (washable). The paint dried very quickly (probably within 15 minutes).
Then we used our awesome stickers from Oriental Trading to decorate the outsides of the boxes. They turned out adorable!!! I covered the stickers with another layer of Mod Podge (the Mod Podge dries within 5 minutes).
I LOVE how they turned out!
Such an awesome gift and so easy to make!
I made 12 boxes for about $30. So it would be about $2.50 per child in your class.
If you want to add a card with your gift and you still have leftover stickers, these are my favorite! They are not only cute cards, but they make for cute keepsakes!

Easy Mother's Day Gifts

I am always on the search for awesome and easy Mother's Day gift ideas! I would LOVE for you to share you ideas in the Kindergarten Smiles Facebook group HERE.
Last year I bought wooden frames from the dollar store.  I let each child paint the frame in a solid color, then they added another color as the 'polka dots' with their pointer finger.
I took each child's picture with this cute little sign I found at Hobby Lobby, but you can also make it on a chalk board! Then, I printed the pictures out, added them to the frames, and wrapped them up!
I know that I would love to have this frame in my home, so I know other parents will enjoy it too ;)

These notecards I have made in the past and decided to make them again this year.  You can find the complete tutorial on my blog HERE or HERE.
These are such a simple, but super cute and useful gift too!
I would love for you to share your Mother's Day craft photos with me over on Facebook.

An Easy and Cute Parent Gift

We made these cute little cards for Mother's Day, but I never had a chance to blog and share the idea!!  However, I figured that they are also the perfect project for parent appreciation!!
If you need a quick and cute gift to give your room mom, volunteers, math superstar helper, etc. this is the perfect idea!
I made two columns in Microsoft Word, entered down a little more than half way, and typed in 'A note from...'  I spaced down a little farther and wrote 'Angelica's Mom'.  I continued to do this for each student in my class.  Then, I printed them out and had each student draw a little picture in between the words.
Then, I let each student choose 4 different colors of card stock (this would give each mom 8 cards).
I copied each page onto the card stock, cut them apart, folded them, and voila!
Little note cards for each mom!
I printed out 'Happy Mother's Day' tags and added the cards into clear treat bags.
I love how they turned out and they were SUPER easy!!!

Mother's Day Crafts

Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful moms out there!! I hope you are enjoying your day with your family!!
I am SO lucky to have the most amazing mother in the world! I love her SO much!!
In class, we made Hadar's cute Mother's Day purses and I just love how they came out! So super perfect...and easy!!
I prepped the purse for the students and they filled out the pages... pretty much independently!! They did such a good job!
The kids also had a blast making this craft for their mom from Cupcake!
Cupcake includes so many different 'sprinkle' options and it was the cutest thing to watch the kids pick out which ones they wanted to include on their ice cream cone.

Enjoy the rest of your evening :)

Easy Parent Gift :)

I made these cute cards for Mother's Day, but they can be made for anything...Parent Appreciation, a Room-Mom gift, or even for a simple thank you :)
First, you need to open up a new document on pages or word. Enter a little over half way down the paper. Then type 'A note from...'
Enter down a little farther and type in the student's name followed by mom (ex. Caitlin's mom).  After you have done this you can space over on the same lines and enter the same info again. This way you have two columns like the white paper below....
When you are done print it out on plain, white paper. Then give your students a small paper that will fit in between the words 'A note from...' and 'Caitlin's mom'. Let them draw a picture on the paper. They can draw it with pencil and you can trace over it with a pen or you can let them use pen. Tape their picture in between the words and then copy it onto colored card stock.
Cut the card stock in half, fold the paper in half, and there you have it!! Cards for their mommy's!
If you have bags, you can put them in the clear bags (seen HERE) and tie them with a ribbon; if not, you can tie them like I did above. The parents love these!
